Moorlands is the project of Hamilton, Ontario singer-songwriter Jon Moore. Drawing inspiration from the sound and songwriting of Ben Rector and John Mayer, his songs live somewhere between nostalgia and hope, interested in who we were and how it shapes where we're going.

Musically, Moorlands is guitar-driven, organic and lyric-focused, with production built to serve the story. The goal is music that feels honest and encouraging: nostalgia that doesn't just look backward, but points somewhere ahead.

The first single, "By the Fire," may be the clearest expression of that outlook. Moving through moments with his wife, friends and children, the song finds the same truth at every stage: home has less to do with where you are than who you're with. "Take time with the people that you love," Jon says. "That's really the whole song."

"By the Fire" is the opening glimpse of Moorlands' forthcoming debut album, Wander Years. Written from the vantage point of his thirties, the record looks back with perspective and appreciation on early adulthood: the searching, mistakes and regret, but also the friendships, love and moments that became the foundation of a life. For Jon, writing it has been less about romanticizing the past than making peace with it. As he puts it, "These songs are a way of honouring the struggle - saying it was purposeful - and celebrating where it led."
